LSN06. Brush Engineering/BR Prototype Class 53 Diesel-Electric Loco No. D0280 'Falcon'. In factory lime green and brown livery. This is by Heljan Models and has working directional headcode and tail lights, working roof fans and twin 5-pole motors. The model is very lightly used and supplied in its original box with instructions and unused accessories. The Brush – built prototype was introduced to service in 1961 after a 2 year design and build project, it utilised twin Maybach engines as used in the ‘Western’ diesel hydraulics. I recall photographing it in about 1964 inside Bristol Bath Road diesel depot, I think it was there for an Open Day. BR decided to standardise on the single engined ‘Brush Type 4’s’ so the Falcon design did not go beyond the prototype and it was withdrawn in 1975 from Ebbw Junction after a period relegated to freight duties. £325.
