LGST70. BR Class 17 (Clayton Type 1) Bo-Bo Diesel No. D8573. In BR two-tone green with late crest and small yellow warning panel. Built by Keith Barber from a Little Gem brass kit and fitted with a motor bogie with two driven axles using ABC shafts and drive gears, Slaters wheels and with excellent cab detail. The model is lightly used and is a smooth and quiet runner. The protoype was into service from Clayton Equipment Co. (Derby) in January 1964 to Edinburgh Haymarket. It went to Polmadie in January 1969 and was withdrawn from there in October 1971, the class suffering from poor reliability from their Paxman engines. £595.
