LJEP03. BR ex- Southern Railway Bulleid 'West Country' 4-6-2 Loco and Tender No. 34008 'Padstow'. In early BR lined malachite green livery with 'sunshine' lettering and with 'British Railways' in full. This is from a DJB Engineering brass kit built by Peter Roles with his maker's label on the underside. Painted by Alan Brackenborough. Fitted with a Buhler motor, multi-stage gearbox, Slaters wheels, extra pickups on the tender, compensation on the rear two tender axles, and with excellent cab detail and crew. The model has had medium use. The prototype was into service from Brighton Works in September 1945 as Southern Railway No. 21C108 becoming BR No. 34008 in 1948 at which time it was at Exmouth Junction. It was rebuilt to non-streamlined form at Eastleigh in 1960 and withdrawn from Nine Elms a month before the end of steam on the Southern Region, in June 1967. It made its way to South Wales but not to Barry Docks - instead to United Wagon Company (Newport) from where there was no second chance. PRICE REDUCTION TO £1995.
