LDM24. BR ex- GWR Collett Class '14xx' 0-4-2 Tank Loco No. 1450. In plain BR black with early crest and red numberplates and shedplate 81B Slough. This is professionally scratchbuilt by Tony Reynalds and carries his 'Bristol Locomotive Works' maker's plate on the underside showing it as Model No. 37 of June 2014. Fitted with solid cast wheels, compensated chassis, dummy inside motion, multi-stage gearbox with a Canon or similar motor, and with superb cab detail. The model is lightly used. The prototype was into service from Swindon Works to Oxford in July 1935 as No. 4850, renumbered to No. 1450 in November 1946. It was withdrawn from Exmouth Junction in May 1965 after a short spell there. Subsequently preserved at the Dart Valley Railway (now the South Devon Railway) it moved to the Severn Valley Railway in 2014 and became part of their home fleet. Now awaiting restoration after expiry of its boiler certificate in 2020. Tony Reynalds, sadly no longer with us, was one of our greatest scratchbuilders and earned the right to have his name mentioned in coversations involving the great Stanley Beeson.
