LJN49. GWR Dean 'Single' 4-2-2 and Tender No. 3065 'Duke of Connaught'. In GWR fully lined and panelled livery with scroll type tender lettering, circa 1900 - 1906 (even the toolboxes are lined). This is from a brass Limited Edition kit by DJB Engineering (50 kits produced), built by Norman Vickers. Fitted with Maxxon motor, ABC gearbox, Slaters wheels, a little bit of compensation on the driving wheels, extra pickups on the tender and with superb cab detail and crew. The model is lightly used and well weighted for serious running with modifications to the chassis to ensure maximum adhesion (usually a problem with single wheelers). The prototype was into service from Swindon Works in July 1897 as one of the 'Achilles' class. It had a short life of just over 17 years being withdrawn in October 1914. It was named after Arthur (Queen Victoria's third son) and had a brief claim to fame breaking the record time from Bristol to Paddington when hauling the 'Ocean Mails' (ex- Plymouth) on 9th May 1904. What a fantastic era of travel that must have been. PRICE REDUCTION TO £1395.
