LJWN15. LMS ex- Midland Railway Johnson '483' Class 4-4-0 Loco and Tender No. 423. In early LMS lined crimson lake livery, painted by David Cooper . This is an older used model, built to an amateur standard from a brass kit. Fitted with Slaters wheels, a worm and wheel drive with an unidentified motor type, compensation on the centre tender axle and very good cab detail. Although it runs fine and is well weighted it has a few issues. Notably there are ripples on the tender side caused during construction, and the worm and wheel drive is a touch noisy. Also it requires a new front coupling and cab glazing and the chimney is missing a small piece. The prototype was into service from Derby Works in August 1896 as No. 156 of class 2183 becoming No. 423 in the 1907 renumbering scheme. It was rebuilt with a Belpaire boiler as modelled here in 1918 becoming one of the '483' class. It passed through LMS ownership as No. 423, becoming BR No. 40423, and was withdrawn from Gloucester Barnwood in December 1952. PRICE REDUCTION TO £350.
