CDS137. Pullman 'K' Type First Class Kitchen Car 'Cynthia'. With matchboard sides and in post-war livery with grey roof and with lightly weathered underframe. This is a detailed brass model produced in Korea by F.C. Models for Golden Age Models. Fitted with working interior lighting, highly detailed interior and underframe, opening doors and glass windows. It also has roller bearing axles fitted for smooth running. This is a used model with some modifications. The grey roof has been repainted at some time, and the electrics for the lighting have been modified. The battery box has been removed and the lighting works on direct pickup from the track (with what looks to be a 'stay alive' circuit). One steam or vacuum pipe is missing. The model is supplied in its correct Golden Age box. The prototype was into service in 1925 serving briefly on the 'White Pullman' to Dover before moving to the LNER Great Northern section for the next 3 years. It reverted to the Southern Railway (Eastern section) in 1928 then served on the Western section Ocean Liner Expresses to Southampton from 1936. It was laid up for the entirity of the war. In 1947 it served on the Devon Belle for 2 seasons. From 1949 to 1959 it was on the North Eastern Region (Harrogate Sunday Pullman, Queen of Scots, Tees-Tyne Pullman and Yorkshire Pullman). In 1961 it reverted briefy to the Southern Region then moved quickly to the Western Region where its service was limited and it was mainly laid-up at Old Oak Common. After being the last Pullman car overhauled at Preston Park Works in Brighton (October 1963) it was withdrawn in early 1964. RESERVED.
