LDSW69. Great Western Railway Collett 'Castle' Class 4-6-0 and Tender No. 5017 'St Donat's Castle'. With single chimney and paired with a Collett tender, and in GWR lined green livery with 'Twin Cities' crest as used circa 1927 to 1934. This is a brass model by Masterpiece Models, one of their original series of 'Castles' (order/production No. 5 of 111 produced), and is fitted with all their usual refinements including working inside motion, compensated chassis on loco and tender, and with superb cab detail. This is a DC only model with the supplied DCC blanking plug fitted below the cab. It has been very lightly used and is supplied in its original Masterpiece inner and outer boxes (no accessories or instructions). Note that the motor is wired positive to negative so that 'forward' on the controller is 'reverse' and vice versa. The prototype was into service from Swindon Works in July 1932 to Taunton, and named 'St. Donat's Castle'. It retained that name until April 1954 when renamed to 'The Gloucestershire Regiment 28th 61st'. It had many shed allocations during its life and was withdrawn from Gloucester in September 1962 having spent its last 2 years there, its last of 10 allocations to Gloucester during its life. £2300.
