LRP05. BR ex- GWR Collett 'King' Class 4-6-0 & Tender No. 6007 'King William III'. In BR green livery with early crest and shedplate 81A Old Oak Common. This is an older used model kitbuilt in brass and fitted with a Canon motor, ABC-type multi-stage gearbox, Slaters wheels, and with very good cab detail and crew. Although it does run it has a few issues as follows. (1) There is too much play in the coupling/connecting rods. (2) The electrical pickups on the leading driving axle need attention. (3) It needs a better drawbar between loco and tender. The prototype was into service from Swindon Works in March 1936 as a replacement for the original 'King' No. 6007 destroyed in an accident at Shrivenham in January 1936 (I would be interested to know how much of the damaged loco went into the rebuild, if anyone has any information). It was withdrawn from Wolverhampton Stafford Road in September 1962. Dai Woodham must have been outbid on this one as rather than going to Barry Docks its last trip was a very short one to Cox & Danks at Oldbury from where none survived. £595.
