LQL22. LNER Gresley Class A4 Pacific 4-6-2 & Tender No. 4482 'Golden Eagle'. Fully valanced, paired with a corridor tender, with single chimney, and in LNER pre-war 1936/37 lined apple green livery. This is a brass model by F. M. Models of Korea for L. H. Loveless and is fitted with their usual refinements including working inside motion, compensated chassis on loco and tender, opening smokebox door, multi-stage gearbox, and with excellent cab detail. The model is lightly used and is supplied in its original inner and outer boxes. It has a screw coupling on the loco with a drop-down Kadee type coupling on the tender (in the drop-down position there is also a traditional hook exposed). This is a DC model. The prototype was into service from Doncaster Works to Kings Cross in December 1936 as LNER No. 4482 becoming No. 23 in the LNER 1946 renumbering scheme thence BR No. 60023. It was withdrawn from Aberdeen Ferryhill in October 1964 having had its last few months in service on the Aberdeen - Glasgow 3 hour expresses. The original green livery was chosen to go with the LNER express stock then in varnished teak. However the green was short lived and it was soon replaced by the more familar garter blue. £2200.
