LDS041. BR ex-LMS Stanier 'Black Five' 4-6-0 and Tender No. 45337. Paired with a Stanier rivetted tender, having separate dome and topfeed, and in lined BR black livery with early crest. This is a substantial model probably from a DJH/Tower Models whitemetal and brass kit and fitted with a heavy duty multi-stage gearbox, a large can motor, Slaters wheels, and with excellent cab detail. The model is lightly used with one or two minor blemishes on the paintwork. The prototype was into service from Armstrong Whitworth (Newcastle) in April 1937 as LMS No. 5337. It became BR No. 45337 in 1948 and was a long-term Agecroft (Manchester) loco moving to Southport (August 1963) and Carlisle Kingmoor (November 1964) from where it was withdrawn in February 1965. Suprisingly for a Northern based loco it made its way to Woodham Brothers at Barry Docks thus becoming a candidate for preservation, from where it was rescued in 1983. £795.
