CQL48. BR ex-LNER Pair of Gresley Articulated Twin-set Corridor Coaches ex- 'Coronation' Set. In BR crimson and cream livery and comprising (1) Third Open No. E1717E together with (2) Brake/Open Third No. E1718E both to to Diagram D231 (Doncaster, 1937). These are by Golden Age Models and are fitted with roller bearing axles, detailed interiors and Kadee-style couplings. They have had some use and note that (1) Although having interior lighting the electrical plunger pickups collecting current from the wheels have been removed. (2) The roofs have been repainted. (3) The underframes are lightly weathered. (4) There is fading of the cream paintwork on one side of each coach. They are supplied in the correct original 2-coach Golden Age box. The ‘Coronation’ sets ran between Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley and the service was inaugurated in July 1937, running up to the war with a streamlined Observation Car added in summer. The coaches were put in store for the duration of the war then returned in BR days from 1948 as general service stock but most notably being used in the 1950's 'Flyimg Scotsman' set. SOLD.
