LGS53. London & South Western Railway Adams Class 'A12' 0-4-2 & Tender No. 625. In fully lined LSWR green livery. This is professionally built and painted from a brass kit and fitted with a motor looking similar to a Buhler, multi-stage gearbox, Slaters wheels, and with excellent cab detail. The toolbox is supplied but not fitted. This substantial model is probably test run only and needs a period of running-in. The prototype was into service from Neilson & Co. of Glasgow in 1892 or 1893 as one of an order for 40 locomotives (50 other members of the class were built at Nine Elms Works). All 90 passed into Southern Railway ownership retaining their L&SWR numbers with the last 4 of the class being withdrawn in 1948 (No. 625 was one of 14 withdrawn in 1947. It had earlier been withdrawn as one of 6 of the class in 1939, subsequently reinstated for wartime service). £1100.
