LRJ12. BR ex-GWR Collett 'Castle' Class 4-6-0 and Tender No. 5081 'Lockheed Hudson'. In lined BR green livery with late crest and shedplate 85A Worcester. This is from a Malcolm Mitchell brass kit and is fitted with an ABC gearbox (not sure of the motor type), Slaters wheels, compensation on the leading 2 loco axles and the centre tender axle, and with excellent cab detail. This substantial model has had light to medium use. The prototype was into service from Swindon Works in May 1939 to Wolverhampton Stafford Road. It was originally named 'Penrice Castle' and renamed to 'Lockheed Hudson' (commemorating the aircraft of that name) in January 1941. It was withdrawn from Cardiff East Dock in October 1963 having been at Worcester from December 1954 to August 1960. Fate took it to Hayes at Bridgend (no survivors) whereas a few miles further south would have taken it to Barry Docks and probable rescue. Perhaps Dai Woodham had his hands (and yards) full already and didn't bid on this one. £1195.
