LRGL02. BR ex-LNER ex- North Eastern Railway Worsdell Class J72 0-6-0 No. 68680. North Eastern Railway Class E1. In lined BR black, quite heavily weathered, with early crest and shedplate 52A Gateshead. This is from a DJH brass and whitemetal kit, believed to be factory built, and fitted with Slaters wheels, a worm and wheel drive, and with excellent cab detail. Weathered by Neil Armitage. The model is lightly used, the worm and wheel is a touch noisy, and the motor is wired positive to negative (so 'forward' on the controller is 'reverse' and vice versa). Supplied in a plain box. The prototype was into service from Darlington Works in March 1899 as NER No. 1720, retaining this number until the LNER 1946 renumbering scheme when it became LNER No. 8680 and subsequently BR No. 68680. It was withdrawn from Gateshead in October 1961 having spent its whole BR life there (and possibly much longer). £595.
