LWA13. Midland Railway Johnson 'Compound' 4-4-0 Loco & 8-wheel Bogie Tender No. 1003. In MR lined crimson lake post- 1907 livery. This is a brass model, probably scratchbuilt, and very well painted. Fitted with a Sagami motor, single stage gearbox, solid cast wheels, and with very good cab detail and crew. The model has had light to medium use and has screw couplings fitted. The prototype was into service from Derby Works in September 1903 as MR No. 2634 being renumbered to No. 1003 in October 1907. It was part of the first batch of five Johnson engines Nos. 1000 - 1004 which were paired with 4500 gallon bogie tenders. It first went to Kentish Town but by January 1905 all 5 of this batch were at Leeds. It survived through LMS into BR days becoming BR No. 41003 in 1948 at which time it was at Derby. Withdrawal came in April 1951, almost certainly from Derby. £850.
