LJEP41. Great Western Railway Armstrong '517' Class 0-4-2 Tank Loco No. 559. In plain GWR green livery without insignia. This is a brass model built and painted by Chris Wesson with his maker's plate on the underside (it may well be from a Malcolm Mitchell kit). Fitted with a Portescap motor/gearbox, cast steel wheels, compensated chassis and with excellent cab detail and crew. The model has had medium use, one numberplate is missing, and the Portescap motor/gearbox is a touch noisy. (Diane Carney would be able to make a replacement numberplate to order). The prototype was into service from Wolverhampton Works as one of 12 locos in lot 'G' of 1869, originally as a saddle tank but quickly converted to a side tank (in 1870). The last survivor of the class, No. 848, was withdrawn in 1945. £825.
