LJEP28. BR ex- GWR Collett 'Grange' Class 4-6-0 and Tender No. 6817 'Gwenddwr Grange'. In lined BR green livery with late crest and shedplate 84B Wolverhampton Oxley. This was built by renowned scratchbuilder John Petcher (with his maker's plate on the underside) but this time from a Malcolm Mitchell brass kit. John is perhaps better known for his superb scratchbuilt coaches but occasionally he did build a loco. Painted by Alan Brackenborough. Fitted with a Canon motor, ABC multi-stage gearbox, cast steel wheels, compensation on the leading and centre driving axles and on the centre tender axle, extra pickups on the tender, and with excellent cab detail and crew. The model is lightly used and looks to have a touch of weathering but this is due to the ageing process having been on display for a number of years. The prototype was into service from Swindon Works in December 1936 initially to Cardiff Canton then spending time at Taunton and Penzance in early BR days. It went to Chester in 1954 and Oxley in 1958. in July 1961 it went to Worcester from where it was withdrawn in May 1965. £2250.
