LJM04. LMS Fowler Unrebuilt 'Patriot' 4-6-0 and Tender No. 5502 ‘Royal Naval Division'. In LMS lined crimson lake livery, professionally weathered by Martyn Welch, and with shedplate 1B Camden. This is a Limited Edition brass model built by SMT Models in Korea for Lee Marsh Models (Order No. 1) and fitted with all Lee's usual refinements including compensated chassis, working inside motion and superb cab detail. Also fitted with DCC and sound using an ESU Loksound chip (address 5502). There is a DCC blanking plug supplied which fits below the rear of the cab and allows normal DC running. The model is lightly used and is supplied in its original inner and outer boxes with plinth, instructions, DCC blanking plug, and unused accessories. The prototype as the third of the Patriot class was built as a replacement for LNWR 'Claughton' No. 2426 using some parts from that loco although it has always been questionable how many (or how few) Claughton parts found their way into a Patriot. However it suited the LMS at the time, for financial reasons, to categorise the early Patriots as 'rebuilds' (the first two 'Patriots' at least had 'Claughton' driving wheels). No. 5959 was into service from Crewe in July 1932 and was renumbered to No. 5502 in May 1934. It moved between 8 different sheds during its LMS life and by the nationalisation of 1948, when it became BR No. 45505, it was at Preston. It was not one of the Stanier rebuilds and withdrawal came from Carlisle Upperby in April 1960 as the first of the class to be withdrawn. Its longest spell at Camden was from July 1935 to November 1940. £2500.
