LGS40. BR ex- War Department 2-8-0 and Tender No. 90595. In plain BR black, quite heavily weathered, with late crest and shedplate 11E Lancaster (Green Ayre). This is well built and painted from a brass kit and fitted with a heavy duty multi-stage gearbox with a can motor, compensation (hornblocks) on loco and tender, Slaters wheels, American pickup system, and with excellent cab detail. The model is lightly used and is wired with reverse polarity (so 'forward' on the controller is 'reverse' and vice versa). The prototype was into service from Vulcan Foundry in December 1943 as WD No. 7451, renumbered to No. 77451 in January 1945. It would appear to have seen service in Belgium, returning in 1947 and being stored at Kingham in Oxfordshire (one of around 80 WD's stored there whilst a future was decided for them). It became BR No. 90595 in March 1949 going then to (Lostock Hall, Preston) followed by Hellifield (November 1958) and Lancaster Green Ayre (January 1959) from where it was withdrawn in February 1964. £1295.
