LDS029. BR ex-LMS ex-LNWR Whale Class G2A 0-8-0 and Tender No. 49125. In plain BR black livery with late crest and shedplate 3A Bescot. This is kit or scratchbuilt in brass and fitted with a can motor, a single stage gearbox, Slaters wheels and with good cab detail. This is an older used model. It runs fine but a couple of the plunger pickups need attention, and the motor/gearbox is a touch noisy. The prototype was into service from Crewe Works in August 1910 as a LNWR Class 'G', rebuilt by the LMS to a Class G1 in 1927 and to a class G2A in 1939. It was withdrawn from Bescot, a last resting place for many of this class, in September 1962 having been there since 1955. I remember seeing about 3 or 4 of them outside the shed in around 1964 from a Liverpool bound train one Sunday, diverted due to engineering works on the West Coast Main Line. £495.
