LGS33. BR ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' 4-6-0 and Tender No. 45702 'Colossus'. This is a long firebox 'Jubilee' paired with a 4000 gallon rivetted tender and in lined BR green with early crest and shedplate 26A Newton Heath (Manchester). This is from a brass kit built by Laurie Griffin with his maker's plate on the underside. Fitted with a Buhler or similar motor, a Heavy Duty multi-stage gearbox, Slaters wheels, compensation on the leading 2 driving axles and the centre tender axle, and with excellent cab detail. The model is lightly used and is wired positive to negative (so 'forward' on the controller is 'reverse' and vice versa). The prototype was into service from Crewe Works in May 1936 as LMS No. 5702. It became BR No. 45702 in 1948 and moved from Farnley Junction to Newton Heath in December 1950 from where it was withdrawn in April 1963. Having kept it for so long, 26A must have rated it as a 'good steamer'. £995.
