LSKD01. BR Riddles Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 Loco and Tender No. 92245. Paired with a BR1G tender, fitted with a double chimney, and in plain BR black livery with late crest, quite heavily weathered. The shedplate is 82F Bath Green Park and it has a 'Pines Express' headboard. This is from a numbered edition whitemetal and brass kit by DJH (Kit No. 5). Fitted with an ABC multi-stage gearbox (probably with a Maxxon or Canon motor), Slaters wheels, flangeless centre driving wheels for negotiating curves, and with excellent cab detail and crew. Additionally fitted with DCC and sound using a Loksound chip (address 2245). This is a used model from a working layout but remaining in good condition. The model is supplied in its original box with numbered certificate and instructions (no DCC instructions). The prototype was into service from Crewe Works in November 1958 to Old Oak Common. It was at Bath Green Park for the summer season June to October 1962 as the use of the big 9F's removed the need for double-heading of the heavily laden summer specials to the South Coast. It was withdrawn from Southall in December 1964. Having been bought by Dai Woodham and moved to Barry Docks it was never rescued for preservation becoming one of the final 'Barry Ten' locos. The boiler was eventually purchased as a 'spare' for 9F No. 92212 and the chassis is at a site in Lancashire but the intentions for it are unclear. A web search for 'Standard 9f 92245' will produce a couple of photos of the loco on passenger service on the Somerset & Dorset. RESERVED.
