LGST124. BR ex- LNER Gresley Class K4 2-6-0 Loco and Tender No. 61994 'The Great Marquess'. In BR lined black with late crest and shedplate 65A Glasgow Eastfield. This is a brass model part kitbuilt and part scratchbuilt by Ken Mason using Gladiator components. Fitted with a Sancheng multi-stage gearbox with Sancheng motor, Slaters wheels, compensation on the centre loco axle and with very good cab detail. This is a rarely modelled type which has been lightly used. The prototype was into service from Darlington Works in July 1938 as LNER No. 3442. It became No. 1994 in the LNER 1946 renumbering scheme thence BR No. 61994. It went from Eastfield to Thornton Junction in December 1959 and was withdrawn from there in December 1961. Subsequently purchased for preservation by Viscount Garnock ( I remember seeing it stored, in LNER livery, at Leeds Neville Hill when it was still a steam depot) followed by a full and interesting preservation history. Now owned by John Cameron as part of his private collection in Fife. RESERVED.
