LGST119. BR ex- LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' Class 4-6-0 and Tender No. 45699 'Galatea'. In lined BR green livery with early crest and shedplate 22A Bristol Barrow Road. This is from a Gladiator brass kit, painted by Paul Rusted. Fitted with an ABC multi-stage gearbox, Canon motor, Slaters wheels, compensation on the centre loco axle and the centre tender axle, and with excellent cab detail. The model is lightly used. The prototype was into service from Crewe Works in April 1936 and was at Leeds Holbeck before moving to Bristol Barrow Road in May 1948 for service on Bristol to Leeds/York expresses. It stayed until October 1961 then moving to Shrewsbury from where it was withdrawn in November 1964. Certainly by September 1965 and probably much earlier it was at Barry Docks from where it was rescued for preservation in April 1980. First it went to the Severn Valley to provide a spare boiler for 45690 'Leander' as 45699 itself was considered not salvageable as its middle driving wheels had been flame cut during its stay at Barry. The rest is history as they say and the preservation movement by the 2000's could tackle anything, including casting new driving wheels. 'Galatea' returned to steam in preservation in April 2013.
