LGST116. Manning Wardle 0-8-0 Industrial Tank Loco No. 7 'Katharine'. In lined black livery with strong provenance to Larry Goddard as the painter but with no visible signature. This is from a Gladiator brass kit and fitted with an ABC multi-stage gearbox, Mashima motor, Slaters wheels and with superb cab detail. The model is lightly used. The prototype was built in Leeds in 1914 by Manning Wardle for Bridgewater Collieries in the Manchester area, one of only three Industrial 0-8-0 tank locos built in the UK and the only one from Manning Wardle. As built it had very high side tanks which caused a side to side rolling motion when under way, ending up on one occasion with the loco on its side. It was subsequently rebuilt with lower side tanks (as modelled here). It was withdrawn in October 1945 as the Austerity 0-6-0's began to take over the work of the Manchester Colliery system. £795.
