LGST152. English Electric/British Railways Prototype 'Blue Deltic' No. DP1. In original English Electric factory blue livery lined in cream and black. This is by FM Models of Korea for L.H. Loveless and has superb all round detail including excellent cab detail. Fitted with cab lights and working directional headlights (but please note these currently only work in one direction). This is a DC model which is lightly used and is supplied in its original box. These fine models have been unavailable for some time and they do not appear on the market very often. Due to the box length exceeding Royal Mail limits, shipping (UK and International) is by DHL only at cost price. The prototype 3300hp ‘Deltic’ loco was into service from EE's Dick Kerr works at Preston in 1955, fitted with two Napier Deltic engines (hence the name) which had originally been developed for marine use. Its first 'turn' in 1955 was on fast freight trains between London and Liverpool, perhaps due to Liverpool's proximity to Preston as a number of modifications were carried out in 1955/56. It then rans tests over the Settle and Carlisle (1956) then entered passenger service between London- Liverpool and London - Carlisle. It continued in service until November 1960 then was withdrawn in 1961 after compleling around 450,000 miles. It had served its purpose as the test bed for the production Deltics and the rest, as they say, is history. Thankfully it was donated to the Science Museum. Credit is due to whoever at English Electric chose that fabulous colour scheme (it was unlikely to be anyone at BR). £2200.
