LRH09. BR ex- Southern Rly ex- SE&CR Maunsell Class 'E1' 4-4-0 and Tender No. 31019. In lined BR black with early crest, weathered, and shedplate 74A Ashford. This is from a David Andrews brass kit built and painted by Charlie King with his maker's plate on the underside. Fitted with an ABC-type gearbox, Canon or similar motor, solid cast wheels, dummy inside motion, a little bit of compensation on the leading driving axle and the centre tender axle, American pickup system, and with very good cab detail and crew. The model has had medium use, is well weighted, has a screw coupling on the loco and a Kadee coupling on the tender, and the loco and tender are hard wired. The prototype was into service from Ashford Works in July 1908 becoming Southern Railway No. 1019 and subsequently BR No. 31019 in 1948. It spent most of its BR days at Stewarts Lane moving to Nine Elms and Salisbury for short spells (1959/60) before moving back to Stewarts Lane in May 1960 from where it was withdrawn in April 1961. £795.
