LRH08. BR ex-Southern Railway ex-London & South Western Rly Drummond D15 4-4-0 No. 30466. In very early plain BR black with 'sunshine' lettering and still with 'Southern' on the tender (as running circa 1948). This is a brass model from a modified Laurie Griffin kit built by Brian Small and painted by Charlie King. Fitted with an ABC-type multi-stage gearbox, a Canon motor, Slaters wheels, and with very good cab detail and crew including Loco Inspector. This is a used model with a screw coupling on the loco and a Kadee coupling on the tender. Electrical pickups are on the tender and the motor is wired positive to negative (so 'forward' on the conroller is 'reverse' and vice-versa). It also has an unusual arrangement where the front bogie swivel and the main chassis are linked together and both swivel on curves. For this reason, minimum 6ft radius curves are recommended. The prototype was into service from Eastleigh Works as L&SWR No. 466 in July 1912 retaining this number through Southern Railways days to become BR No. 30466 in 1949. It was at Eastleigh at least by January 1948 and was withdrawn from there in October 1952. £795.
