LGD05. Great Northern Railway Gresley Class A1 Pacific 4-6-2 and Tender No. 1470 ‘Great Northern’. Paired with a Great Northern tender and in GNR lined apple green livery with brown frames as running circa 1922 – 1923. This is a brass model by F.M. Models of Korea and is fitted with all the usual LHL refinements including fully working inside motion, opening smokebox door and superb cab detail. This is a DC model which has been very lightly used as a display model and is supplied in its original inner and outer boxes. The prototype as the first of Gresley's 'Pacifics' was into service from Doncaster Works to Doncaster shed in April 1922 as No. 1470 renumbered by the LNER to No. 4470 in 1925. It was rebuilt by Thompson to his class A1 and in the 1946 LNER renumbering scheme became No. 113 and subsequently BR No. 60113 in 1948. It was withdrawn from Doncaster shed in November 1962 after 40 years of service - although how much of Gresley’s A1 was left in 1962 is questionable. £2250.
