LRGL03. LNER Gresley Class A4 4-6-2 Pacific and Tender No. 4468 'Mallard'. Fully valanced as running pre-war, paired with a streamlined non-corridor tender, and in lined LNER blue livery. This is factory built in whitemetal and brass by DJH from their own kit and fitted with Slaters wheels, a multi-stage gearbox (not sure of the motor type), and with excellent cab detail. The model is lightly used and is supplied in its original DJH box. However this box is too long for posting via Royal Mail so shipping (UK and International) must be by DHL at cost price. The prototype was into service from Doncaster Works to Doncaster shed in March 1938 as No. 4468 becoming LNER No. 22 in the 1946 renumbering scheme and subsequently BR No. 60022 in 1949. On 3rd July 1938 'Mallard' achieved and still retains the world speed record for steam locomotives at 126 mph between Little Bytham and Essendine stations on the East Coast main line. It was withdrawn from Kings Cross for preservation in the National Collection in April 1963. It ran with a streamlined non-corridor tender from new until March 1948. RESERVED.
