LRGL01. GWR Churchward 'City' Class 4-4-0 and Tender No. 3717 'City of Truro'. In GWR lined green with garter crest as running from just prior to World War 1 with black frames. This is a brass model by Sancheng for Finescale Brass and is fitted with working inside motion, compensation on the leading driving axle and all tender axles, and with excellent cab detail. Crew and coal have been added. The model is lightly used and is supplied in its original inner and outer boxes. This is one of the final 'City' models produced by Sancheng and the type of box (produced for the final batch of models) is an indication that the paintwork is a factory finish done in Korea. The prototype to Churchward’s design entered service as No. 3440 from Swindon Works in 1903. It was renumbered to No. 3717 in 1912 and was retired for preservation in 1931, thus having a far greater life in preservation than it did in service. SOLD.
