LJM03. BR ex-LNER Gresley Class V2 2-6-2 and Tender No. 60809 ‘The Snapper (The East Yorkshire Regiment, The Duke of York's Own)’. In lined BR black with early crest and with shedplate 52B Heaton (Newcastle). This is a brass model from a Martin Finney kit, very well built and painted by Nick Dunhill. Fitted with turned steel wheels, compensation on the loco and on the rear 2 tender axles, working inside motion, Canon motor with a multi-stage gearbox, and with excellent cab detail and crew. Additionally fitted with DCC and Sound using an ESU Loksound chip (address 6080). The model is lightly used. The prototype was into service from Darlington Works to York shed in August 1937 as LNER No. 4780 becoing No. 809 in the LNER 1946 renumbering scheme, and subsequently BR No. 60809. It was withdrawn from Darlington shed in July 1964 after a life spent almost exclusively in the North East including 3 spells at Heaton (1949-1951, 1956-1957, 1959-1960). £1995.
