LGS24. Great Central Railway Robinson Class 8 'Fish' Engine 4-6-0 & Tender No. 1071. In GCR fully lined black freight livery. This is from a Gladiator brass kit built by Dave Murdoch and painted by Les Richards. Fitted with Alan Harris (AGH) steel wheels, a single reduction gearbox coupled to a Buhler motor, American pickup system, and with excellent cab detail and crew. The model has been very lightly used or test run only. The prototype was into service from Neilson & Co. of Glasgow in December 1902 as one of a class of 14 locos, building split between Neilson & Co. (6) and Beyer Peacock (8). They were primarily designed for fast fish traffic between Grimsby and London, Manchester and other GC cities but in fact were also used for express goods (the locos were allocated initially to Gorton, Grimsby and Neasden). They entered LNER service as Class B5 and one or two survived into BR service but all had gone by June 1950. £1750.
