LSL01. Aster Gauge 1 Factory Built Live Steam BR ex- LNER Gresley A3 Pacific No. 60103 ‘Flying Scotsman’. With double chimney and German type smoke deflectors. In BR lined green with late crest and shedplate 34A Kings Cross. This is factory built by Aster in Japan (number 5 of a Limited Edition of 88) and as can be seen from the mint condition shown in the photographs, it has never been steamed. The scale is 1:32 (45mm) and overall length is 68cm over buffers. In brass and stainless steel with a copper boiler, spirit fired, and fitted with a host of features including - Axle Driven Pump, 3 Cylinders (Bore :12mm x Stroke: 22mm), Valve Gear Outside (Walschaerts) Inside (Gresley-Holcroft), Safety valves, Pressure gauge, Water gauge, Blow-down valve, Regulator valve,  Displacement type lubricator, Tender mounted hand pump. The model has been used for display purposes only and comes with its original Aster box, manuals, tools and a can of touch-up paint. If the next owner plans to steam it then it is recommended that it should first be checked over by a live steam engineer as a safety precaution. The prototype was into service from Doncaster Works as Great Northern Railway A1 No. 1472 in February 1923, becoming LNER No. 4472 in 1924. It then became LNER No. 103 in the 1946 renumbering scheme, shortly after this it was rebuilt to an A3, thence becoming BR No. 60103. Its long story of subsequent preservation starting with Alan Pegler is well known and not given here. Now part of the National Collection and a National and International icon. £4750.
