LQL23. BR ex-LNER ex-GCR Robinson 4-4-0 Class D11/2 'Scottish Director' No. 62678 'Luckie Mucklebackit'. In BR lined black with early crest. From a Gladiator brass kit and fitted with a multi-stage gearbox probably with a Canon or similar motor, Slaters wheels and with excellent cab detail. The model is very lightly used and requires cab glazing. The prototype was into service from Kitson & Co. in September 1924 as LNER No. 6385 so to a Great Central order delivered to the LNER. It became LNER No. 2678 in the 1946 renumbering scheme, thence BR No. 62678. It was withdrawn from Thornton Junction in March 1959. The fabulously named 'Luckie Mucklebackit' like many Scottish locos is named after a character in one of Sir Walter Scott's novels, in this case 'The Antiquary'. £1150.
