GWR '3200'  Earl class 4-4-0 tender loco No. 3208 'Earl Bathurst'. This is an older model probably scratchbuilt. With solid cast wheels and very good cab detail. The loco has an undetermined motor/gearbox combination but this is non-working and is disconnected so this is now a 'tender drive only' loco. The tender is fitted with a large Sagami type motor with separate ABC gearboxes driving the front and rear tender axles. Whilst giving excellent pulling power the extra gearbox does increase noise levels. This class was a Collett rebuild of the earlier Duke class boilers on Bulldog frames. Known as Dukedogs they were renumbered in the 90xx range in 1946. This one became 9008 lasting until July 1957 and withdrawal from Machynlleth. Lightly used. £595.
