CWA09. A Pair of London Brighton & South Coast Railway Stroudley Mail Coaches. In LB&SCR lined teak livery. Comprising 4-wheel Clerestory Mail Van No. 401 together with 6-wheel Brake/Mail Van No. 327. Note that these 2 coaches ran together as a pair in LB&SCR days and although are non-corridor as far as the train is concerned, there is a corridor connection between the two vans. These are from Roxey Mouldings brass kits. No. 401 is built by J. Monnier and painted by David Studley (signed) and No. 327 is by Ian Willets with his maker's plate on the underside (and again almost certainly painted by David Studley who is the acknowledged specialist in teak liveries). Compensation is fitted to all axles on each van. The models are very lightly used and are supplied in identical Roxey boxes as shown (so No. 401 is in an incorrect box). The prototypes were as follows. No. 327 was built circa 1879/1880 as a 6 wheel Full Brake and at some later date was converted to a Bag Tender Van and permanently coupled to Sorting Van No.401. Later still (in 1920) it became a Stores Van. No. 401 itself was built in 1878 to Diagram 48 and was withdrawn in 1899 as a Mail Van and converted to a Tool Van. It is not known how long the pair ran together in Mail service. £650 for the Pair.
